Our Fourth of July festivities

We had an enjoyable celebration of the 4th of July this year in our new neighborhood. There was a bike parade organized by our neighborhood community that was led by the Fire Department. We arrived at 10 am for the start of the parade. Our daughter was dressed up in red, white and blue, and had a flag attached to her bicycle (which she rides with training wheels). Our son was also in a red onesie and blue jeans and rode along in his stroller. We enjoyed the bike parade with all the neighborhood kids, dogs, and families.

I was glad to be able to capture the event and the kids outfits with our new camera this year. We had been waiting on buying one for a long time and finally have our own camera that takes far better pictures than our cellphones. It was nice to dress the children, and take a few pictures in a beautiful corner of our backyard.

We were fortunate to finish the bike parade successfully – our daughter rode around the whole block and was excited to be a part of the parade, see the fire truck and greet the police officers who were there.

We enjoyed an early lunch of burgers (cheese burger and chicken burger) and the arts and craft activities conducted by the community association at the pool. We watched some of the pool games and came home to a nice long nap (kids) and quality time together for my husband and me.

In the evening, we did a few loads of laundry and ate a nice dinner of homemade Thai red curry with tofu and vegetables and rice.

We decided to watch the fireworks over the nearby lake at night and went on a short drive to a point from where we could watch the spectacular display. Bedtime was late, but all of us seem to be well rested today which is good. It was a simple and fun-filled Fourth of July celebration, and we are back to work today!
