It’s a
bright June afternoon… sing Roxette in the back of my mind, and indeed it is a
relief to finally be in June. For us, this means brighter and warmer days, the start
of swimming season, and lots of outdoor time. June used to be associated with
monsoons, the beginning of the school year, new books and supplies, and nervous
excitement. It now signals the start of summer, school vacations (which does
not directly affect us), longer days and hopefully, a bit of a breather before
work gets very hectic again in the fall.
Our summer plans this year do not involve a lot of travel, since we have already done a couple of long trips over the past few months. I plan to spend the time settling into a routine at work, catching up on sleep to rejuvenate myself, and prioritizing my mental wellbeing. Hopefully, we will be able to do day trips to the beach, the city, wine country, national parks, and also spend time locally with hikes, walks, bike rides, and lots and lots of time in the neighborhood pool. At home, the goal is to maintain some sort of semblance of order, and find the time to meditate, read, listen to music, cook and enjoy one another’s company.
